Wedding Catering Services in Vijayawada

A Telugu wedding is not one meal, it is five or six, each with a different crowd, a different hour and a different mood. Planning it as a single menu is where most wedding catering goes wrong. Here is how we break a Vijayawada wedding down.

Function by function

Nischitartham Tiffin and a light meal, usually 60–150 guests, early evening.
Pendlikoothuru / haldi Morning tiffin and snacks, family only. Simple, served fast, no sit-down.
Mehendi & sangeet Finger food, a chaat counter, mocktails. Runs late, so quantities per head go up.
Muhurtham meal Banana leaf, 15–17 items, the largest crowd of the wedding, timed to the purohit’s hour.
Reception Tray-passed starters, dum biryani, two gravies, live tandoor, two sweets.
Satyanarayana vratam Satvik, no onion or garlic, cooked first in dedicated vessels.

Quantities, so nothing runs short at 9pm

The figures we actually cook to, per 100 confirmed guests at a reception:

  • Biryani — 32–36 kg cooked weight for chicken, 28–32 kg for mutton
  • Starters — 4 pieces per head for the first round, 6 if the function runs past 9pm
  • Gravies — around 8 litres each for two gravies
  • Curd rice — about 10 kg, and it always finishes
  • Sweets — 1.5 pieces per head across two varieties
  • Service staff — 4–5 per hundred for a buffet, 8–10 for table service
  • Buffet lines — one per 120 guests, served from both sides

And the number that matters most: at a Vijayawada wedding, 70–80% of confirmed guests actually attend. Cook for the realistic number plus 8–10%, not the invitation list plus 25%. Over-ordering is the largest avoidable waste in a wedding.

The Krishna-district palate

This region runs hotter and more sour than Hyderabad. Gongura pacchadi is not optional, the pulusu is sharper, and Guntur chilli appears in more dishes than a Hyderabad menu would use. Bandar laddu and ariselu belong on the sweet counter. We cook to the local palate rather than carrying a Hyderabad menu down and hoping it lands.

Common questions

Can we taste the menu before booking?

Yes, and it should be the exact function menu, not a showcase. Tastings are at our Hyderabad kitchen, or arranged in Vijayawada for larger bookings.

Can you run a function with no non-veg on site at all?

Yes — separate vessels, separate cooks, separate counters, and nothing non-vegetarian entering the venue. Say so at the first meeting so it is written into the plan rather than remembered on the day.

What happens if the muhurtham time shifts?

It often does. The meal is planned backwards from the hour, with the batching built to absorb a shift of up to about an hour without the food sitting.

Where we are based

Vinora Events is in LB Nagar, Hyderabad. There is no Vijayawada office or kitchen, and we will not claim one. Your event is planned and run by our own people, with kitchen staff, flowers, lighting and service staff through the vendor and crew network we work with in Vijayawada, and raw material bought in local markets on the morning. Tell us the date, the venue and roughly how many guests, and we will come back within 24 hours with an itemised estimate. Call +91 97036 16476 or send an enquiry.
