Most decoration enquiries start with a photograph and end with a number that does not match it. The gap is almost always flowers — the same backdrop built in fresh roses and in artificial florals can differ by three times. Here is what home function decor actually costs in Hyderabad, by function and by budget band.
Engagement / nischitartham stage at home
Low cost — ₹8,000 to 15,000
Draped backdrop in two fabrics, artificial floral panel or a ring, two side pedestals with arrangements, fairy lights, a decorated sofa or two chairs, entrance toran. Good for a 40–70 guest home function. Setup takes 3–4 hours.
Mid — ₹18,000 to 35,000
Fabricated backdrop (ring, arch or panel), mixed fresh and artificial florals, uplighters, a proper couple seat, side props, flower-petal pathway, name or monogram board. This is the band most Hyderabad home engagements land in.
Premium — ₹45,000 to 90,000+
Full fresh-flower installation, custom fabrication, hanging elements, mirror or acrylic props, designed lighting with pin-spots, matching entrance and photo corner.

Haldi and pasupu danchadam at home
Simple — ₹5,000 to 10,000
Marigold and mango-leaf toranam, yellow and orange drapes, two seating stools decorated, brass urlis with floating flowers, earthen pots, a simple backdrop in fabric and genda phool.
Mid — ₹12,000 to 25,000
Fabricated marigold backdrop, hanging umbrellas or pot installations, a floral swing or decorated seat, rangoli at the entrance, props for photographs (charpai, bangle stand, dhol).

Birthday decoration at home
- Balloon arch and backdrop, basic — ₹3,500 to 7,000
- Themed setup (character, colour story, cake table, props) — ₹8,000 to 18,000
- First birthday / premium theme with fabrication, neon name board and photo corner — ₹20,000 to 45,000

- Naming ceremony (barasala) — cradle decor, backdrop, entrance: ₹6,000 to 20,000

Why two quotes for “the same” backdrop differ so much
- Fresh vs artificial florals. A 10ft fresh-rose panel can cost five times the artificial equivalent. Ask which is which, panel by panel.
- Fabrication vs drape. A built structure needs carpentry, transport and two people for four hours. A fabric drape needs none of that.
- Lighting. Uplighters and pin-spots are what make decor photograph well, and they are usually a separate line.
- Setup window. A 6 AM muhurtham means an overnight build, which costs more than an afternoon one.
- Height. Anything above 8 feet needs a different structure and often scaffolding.
Five things to confirm before you pay the advance
- A reference image or 3D render you have approved, not a verbal description
- Which florals are fresh and which are artificial, written in
- Setup and teardown times — and who clears up, and when
- Power requirement, and whether a backup is needed for a home setup
- Lift and staircase access for apartments — a 10ft panel does not always reach the fourth floor
How to get a better-looking setup for the same money
Spend on one focal point rather than spreading thinly across the room. A single well-lit backdrop with a good seat photographs far better than four mediocre corners. Then put whatever is left into lighting, not into more flowers — it is the cheapest thing that makes everything else look expensive.
