Catering Rates in Hyderabad: What ₹300, ₹500 and ₹800 Per Plate Actually Gets You

“Per plate” is the most-used and least-understood phrase in Hyderabad catering. Two caterers can both say ₹500 per plate and mean completely different things. Here is what each price band typically includes in 2026, and the five things that move the number.

₹250–300 per plate: a proper traditional meal

This is a complete vegetarian Andhra or Telangana meal — rice, pappu, one or two curries, pulusu or sambar, rasam, curd, pickle, a papad and one sweet — served buffet or on banana leaf. Staff, crockery and transport are included by honest caterers at this rate. What you do not get: live counters, non-veg, or more than one sweet. It is the right choice for a muhurtham lunch, a gruhapravesam or a vratam. See affordable catering.

₹450–550 per plate: non-veg and a live counter

Add chicken biryani or a mutton curry, two or three starters, one live counter (chaat or dosa), two sweets and a welcome drink. This is the most common engagement and reception band in function halls across LB Nagar, Kukatpally and Uppal. Ask which starters are tray-served and which are at a counter — it changes the staffing.

₹750–900 per plate: multi-cuisine with counters

Hyderabadi and North Indian mains, a tandoor, two or three live counters, a dessert bar, mocktails and tray-circulated starters. This is a hotel-reception standard delivered at a function hall. The gap between a good ₹800 menu and a bad one is entirely in execution — replenishment, hot holding and staff per hundred guests.

₹1,200 and up: plated and premium

Coursed dinners, chef-attended stations, curated menus, tastings for every function. This is premium catering territory — Banjara Hills hotel weddings and corporate galas.

The five things that move the price

  1. Live counters — each adds ₹60–150 per head.
  2. Non-veg and seafood — mutton and prawns add the most.
  3. Guest count — rates drop above 500 and again above 1,000.
  4. Service style — plated costs more than buffet.
  5. Venue rules — some hotels charge corkage or insist on their kitchen.

How to read a quote

Ask for three things in writing: the per-plate rate with every dish listed, the number of service staff and counters, and what is excluded (GST, transport, extra hours). If a quote is a single number with no line items, it will grow. Full ranges by cuisine and event type are on our catering price page.

Vinora Events cooks in our own LB Nagar kitchen, quotes per plate with every item visible, and offers a tasting before you book. Call +91 97036 16476 or see catering services in Hyderabad.
